Lesson Notes
The Notifications page at /settings/notifications is divided into two major sections: email/SMS preferences (with a Save button) and mobile push notification categories (saved instantly per toggle). Both sections are visible to all account types, though some toggles appear only for the roles they apply to — for example, 'Project Assignment Alerts' is hidden for Agent accounts since agents don't receive job assignments.
Email Notifications is a master toggle for most transactional emails sent to your address — new orders, order confirmations, delivery readiness, and approval changes. When you flip it off, Vremly will stop sending those event-driven emails. Status Change Notifications fire when an order or project moves through lifecycle states (for agents, this covers the full arc from Scheduled to Shooting to Editing to Delivered). Invoice Notifications apply to agents and company accounts and cover new invoices and payment confirmations. Message Notifications fire when a new in-platform message arrives. Changes to these email toggles are not applied until you click Save; a change indicator appears at the top of the section to remind you.
SMS Notifications require a verified phone number before the toggle can be enabled. If you have not added a phone number yet, the SMS toggle is greyed out and a prompt appears: 'Verify your phone number.' Click Add Phone Number, enter your number with country code (e.g. +1 (555) 123-4567), and click Send Verification Code. Vremly sends a 6-digit SMS to that number. Enter the code in the Verification Code field and click Verify & Enable SMS. Clerk verifies the number and Vremly stores it in your notification preferences. Once verified, the SMS toggle becomes active and a green confirmed badge with a checkmark appears.
The Mobile Push Notifications section appears below the email/SMS card whenever your active organization ID is resolved. It presents four push categories as separate toggle cards: Your projects (updates, deliveries, approvals, ratings), Messages (new messages in any project), Marketplace (bids, escrow releases, available slots), and Promotions & announcements (news and offers from your company, defaulting to off per Apple guidelines). Each toggle saves immediately — there is no Save button for this section. A note at the bottom reminds you that push permissions must also be enabled in your phone's system settings.
On the Vremly iOS app, navigate to Settings > Notifications to see the same four push categories as native Toggle rows in a Form. If you belong to more than one workspace, a Picker at the top lets you switch between organizations to manage preferences per workspace. Every toggle saves optimistically — the UI updates instantly and rolls back if the network call fails, showing an alert. A 'Manage system push permissions' button at the bottom of the screen opens iOS Settings directly, where you can control at the system level whether Vremly can deliver notifications at all. The four push categories sync to the same backend endpoint as the web controls.
Key Takeaways
- Email/SMS toggles require clicking Save; mobile push category toggles save instantly.
- SMS requires a verified phone number — complete the two-step flow (enter number, enter code) before enabling.
- Promotions & announcements defaults to off; the other three push categories (projects, messages, marketplace) default to on.
- Push preferences are per-workspace on the iOS app — use the workspace Picker to manage each org separately.
- System-level push permissions must also be granted in your phone's iOS Settings for push to work.
