Lesson Notes

01

The dashboard map section — titled 'Live Project Map' on the company dashboard and 'Live Job Map' on the provider dashboard — renders a Mapbox GL map with a collapsible sidebar. On the company dispatcher view, the map shows pins for every active job and home-base markers for every technician whose address is on file. On the provider view, the map shows only the jobs assigned to the current technician plus the technician's own home-base pin. This scoping is intentional: technicians see only their own workload, not the full team.

02

The sidebar to the right of (or below on mobile) the map shows the list of pending and assigned jobs. Each job card in the sidebar includes the property address, the client name, the package type, the scheduled time, and the current status badge. On the dispatcher view, unassigned jobs (status: Pending) show a 'View rankings' button that opens the AI dispatcher rankings dialog where you can see AI-scored technician recommendations and assign the job. Clicking any job card both highlights the corresponding map pin and opens the job task view sheet.

03

The company dashboard sidebar also shows 'List on marketplace' for pending jobs that are not yet assigned and have not been listed — this button pushes the job to the marketplace where independent contractors can pick it up. When a job is assigned, the technician's name and avatar appear on the job card in the sidebar. You can collapse or expand the sidebar using the panel toggle icon in the top-right corner of the map component.

04

For independent providers in a personal workspace, the map shows a live pulsing green dot indicator in the header ('Live location') when the system is using your device's GPS to place your home marker. A 'Hide location' button lets you toggle location privacy — when active, your marker snaps to an approximate 3 km grid cell rather than your precise coordinates. This setting is persisted in localStorage so it survives page reloads. Clicking 'View map' opens the full /map page with additional controls.

05

On the iOS app, agents have a dedicated Map tab (AgentMapView) that shows only their own commissioned listings as pins — no technician home-base markers are shown on the agent's map. When a shoot is currently in progress for one of the agent's listings, a live tracking pin appears showing the technician's real-time position. If the agent has multiple simultaneous shoots, multiple tracking pins appear, each scoped to the agent's own projects. Technician providers on iOS access the dispatch map through the ProviderPersonalDashboardView quick-action row, which links to the Calendar and Settings destinations but not a separate map — the map surfaces are primarily a web dispatcher feature.

Key Takeaways

  • Company dispatchers see all active jobs and all technician home-base pins; technicians see only their own jobs and their own pin.
  • Pending jobs on the dispatcher map show a 'View rankings' button for AI-assisted assignment.
  • Independent providers can hide their precise location — it snaps to a ~3 km grid when privacy mode is on.
  • Agents on iOS have their own Map tab showing only their listings plus live tracking for in-progress shoots.
  • Click 'View map' to leave the dashboard and open the full map with additional controls.
